Happy Monday!

Hi friends!

So my journey started 2 months ago today. It’s been crazy, bumpy, and actually fun at some points. Friends have come and gone. True ones stay, even if not physically in the same state as you. I have a lot of support. There is a difference between being alone and lonely. My aunt told me that. I don’t feel so lonely.

Anyway, going on a slow digital detox. One thing at a time! I turned off my Instagram notifications and facebook ones too. So I might be slower to response. That’s ok! We shouldn’t all be in a rush anyway, right?

Ferris Bueller was right. He always is.

Happy Sunday

“You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.” – Psalm 65:9

“No brain at all, some of them [people], only grey fluff that’s blown into their heads by mistake, and they don’t Think.” ― A.A. Milne, The House at Pooh Corner

This is just a short little post about life. Sometimes we think we know what’s going on, but in all reality we don’t. We think the wind is blowing us one way, but then it sweeps you off your feet another way. I guess we just have to learn to enjoy the ride. Go with the flow. It isn’t always thrilling and we are anxious to see what waits for us on the other side.

When people ask me what’s going on today…I usually respond with shrug.

Hello Sailors!

Hi my friends…

I guess I will start by introducing myself. You can call me Mellie 🙂 I am 32 going on 12. I live in Chicago at the moment, but grew up in Northern NJ. I work at a doggy daycare in Wicker Park. I love it because animals are pretty much my life force.

I could be called a hippy with punk influence or the other way around. More importantly, I am Mellie 🙂

Anywho, I picked the name Just Like Mellie because of Just Like Honey by Jesus & Mary Chain. I was listening to it this morning on the way to a coffee shop and that coffee shop was also playing it. So it was meant to be. I also have this undying love for children’s books…Winnie the Pooh being my most favorite. Winnie is my inspiration and I share a lot of character traits. I have a big heart (I have been told) and dream way way bigger than my little head and body could handle.

I am a vegan and love trying (TRYING) to take care of my health. Life is too short. Take care of yourself.

A few things happened in the past couple months to bring me here. To this journey. It’s exciting and scary. Taking risks while being careful. Let’s see what happens. I could be a brave little toaster.
